Head of Energy at Spiro

We are looking for an experienced Energy Head to lead our energy business and project execution in Cameroon. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in solar energy, telecom infrastructure and large-scale energy projects, with proven expertise in managing end-to-end project execution and operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the energy business and project execution across Cameroon.
• Plan, manage and execute solar power projects / solar farms, including EPC and site-level implementation.
• Drive deployment of solar, hybrid, battery storage and energy solutions for telecom and infrastructure projects.
• Manage end-to-end project lifecycle including planning, engineering, procurement, installation, commissioning and O&M.
• Oversee execution of telecom infrastructure projects, particularly BTS/site power and energy systems.
• Manage EPC contractors, vendors, consultants and local project teams.
• Ensure projects are delivered within scope, timelines, quality and budget.
• Develop project plans, CAPEX budgets, resource plans and execution strategies.
• Monitor project performance, identify risks and drive timely resolution of operational issues.
• Work closely with customers, telecom operators, government authorities, suppliers and other stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with HSE, technical, quality and regulatory requirements.
• Build and lead a high-performing local energy/project execution team.
• Identify opportunities for expansion in solar energy, renewable energy and telecom power infrastructure.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 10+ years of experience in Energy, Renewable Energy, Solar, Telecom Infrastructure or related sectors.
• Strong hands-on experience in solar project execution, preferably solar farms, utility-scale or commercial/industrial solar projects.
• Experience in telecom infrastructure, BTS/site deployment, tower power systems or telecom energy management will be highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of solar PV, batteries/BESS, hybrid power systems, DG and off-grid/on-grid solutions.
• Proven experience managing large-scale projects, EPC contractors and multi-location teams.
• Strong commercial and project management capabilities with experience handling CAPEX, budgets, vendors and contracts.
• Experience working in Africa / Francophone Africa will be a strong advantage.
• Fluency in French is mandatory; English communication skills will be an advantage.
• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy, Renewable Energy, Project Management or a related discipline.
• PMP / Project Management certification or an MBA will be an added advantage.
