    Heavy Equipment Operator

     
    DEPARTMENT Base Support Vehicles and Equipment – WHE
    POSITION REPORT TO: Supervisor, Heavy Equipment

    DESCRIPTION OF JOB TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Operates and maintains a variety of heavy vehicles and other equipment.
    • Loads and unloads supplies and equipment from ships, docks, warehouses, and motor vehicles, and moves hazardous materials as required.
    • Operates all types of Construction/Heavy Equipment for Base Support such as bulldozer, grader, bucket loader, backhoe, sweeper, water distributor truck, ditching machine, auger truck, road roller, transit mixer truck, etc.
    • Equipment is used to excavate, load, or move dirt, gravel, or non-hazardous and hazardous materials.
    • Performs routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking oil, water, and tires.
    • Performs pre-service maintenance checks and indicates findings.
    • Records malfunctions of other items requiring attention as observed during the working day.
    • Records the number of gallons of fuel issued to the equipment while in his custody.
    • Completes records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up and housekeeping activities.
    • Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment.
    • Performs other duties and activities as directed.

     BASIC JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Ability to operate heavy equipment.
    • Considerable knowledge and skill in the operation and servicing of various automotive and complex construction equipment.
    • Considerable knowledge of the hazards involved in equipment operation and the safety precautions necessary.
    • Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, and checking oil and water levels.
    • Must speak, read, and understand the English Language.
    • Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license with the following license codes (2, 3, and 8 or B, B1, D, BE, and CE).

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS OR TRAINING

    • Must be fully qualified and capable of being certified IAW NAVFAC P-300.
    • Completed any of the following Heavy Equipment Operation training and certification is highly desired:
      • Heavy Equipment Operation (Backhoe Loader)
      • Heavy Equipment Operation (Bulldozer)
      • Heavy Equipment Operation (Transit Mixer Truck)
      • Heavy Equipment Operation (Forklift)
      • Heavy Equipment Operation (Motor Grader)
      • Heavy Equipment Operation (Wheel Loader)
      • Heavy Equipment Operation (On-Highway Dump Truck – Rigid)
      • Heavy Equipment Operation (Hydraulic Excavator)
      • Heavy Equipment Operation (Road Roller)

    EDUCATION:

    • Must be at least High school, Technical or Vocational School graduate.

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Must have at least five (5) years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator and in-plant operations.

    Basic terms of the job offer.

    • Assignment Duration: 12 months. Renewal subject to performance and project status.
    • Base Monthly Salary: 48 hours per week minimum work requirement: $660.00 (based on 48 hr. work week requirement)
    • Working schedule: 48 hours per week (8 hours per day/6 days a week)
    • Payroll period: Monthly. Amount give take home.
    • Overtime: Work more than 8 hours per day or work performed on a rest day and/or holiday,

    will be paid as overtime at the base salary rate.

    • Accommodations: Housing, transportation, meals in-country, and laundry facilities are provided
    • Sick Leave: Employee will accrue 2.67 hours of sick leave for each full month of service, beginning with the completion of the first full month of Foreign Service employment.
    • Annual leave Up to 21 days paid at the end of each 12-month contract.
    • Travel will be provided by the employer to the employee’s home country.
    • Project Holidays: 10 paid holidays. New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday, President’s Day, Philippine Independence Day, USA Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day

    Other requirements

    • Your Passport must be valid for at least 12 months, with at least 6 total blank visa pages remaining.
    • Your driver’s license must be valid for at least 6 months (unless processing for a CDL-required position, which will require 12 months remaining).
    • Updated covid vaccination certificate
    • Medical exam report at a date to be advised.
