    Human Resource Officer-Nandi county

    Job Description

    We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Human Resource Manager to lead our HR department and drive our talent management strategies. The ideal candidate will develop and implement HR policies, oversee recruitment and onboarding, and foster a positive workplace culture. This role requires a strategic thinker who can align HR practices with business objectives, ensure compliance with labor laws, and enhance employee engagement.

    Key Responsibilities:

    HR Strategy & Policy Development

    • Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and best practices aligned with company goals.
    • Ensure HR strategies support business objectives and drive workforce productivity.
    • Continuously assess and improve workplace culture to enhance employee satisfaction and retention.
    • Advise management on HR trends, workforce planning, and succession planning. 

    Recruitment, Onboarding & Talent Management

    • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, from job posting to final hiring.\
    • onboarding and induction programs to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.
    • Develop talent retention strategies to minimize turnover.
    • Work with department heads to identify skills gaps and ensure the factory has the right workforce.

     Employee Relations & Workplace Culture

    • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment through strong employee relations.
    • Handle employee grievances, mediate disputes, and implement conflict resolution strategies.
    • Ensure compliance with labor laws, disciplinary policies, and ethical standards.
    • Promote a culture of teamwork, communication, and employee well-being.

     Performance Management & Employee Development

    • Implement and oversee the performance appraisal system to track employee progress.
    • Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to enhance workforce productivity.
    • Identify training and development needs, and coordinate skills enhancement programs.
    • Ensure leadership development and career growth opportunities for employees.

    Compliance & Labor Law Adherence

    • Ensure compliance with Kenyan labor laws, factory regulations, and industry standards.
    • Maintain accurate HR records, contracts, and reports for audit and compliance purposes.
    • Handle legal matters related to employee contracts, disciplinary cases, and workplace disputes.
    • Stay updated on employment laws and advise leadership on legal HR matters.

     Compensation, Payroll & Benefits Administration

    • Oversee payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate salary payments.
    • Manage employee benefits, including medical insurance, pension schemes, and leave policies.
    • Ensure statutory deductions (NHIF, NSSF, PAYE) are processed correctly.
    • Develop competitive compensation structures to attract and retain talent.

     Workplace Health & Safety (OSH)

    • Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards within the factory.
    • Implement employee wellness programs to support workplace safety.
    • Work closely with the Safety Committee to minimize risks and workplace incidents.
    • Conduct regular audits and training on workplace safety measures.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • 5+ years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing, agribusiness, or tea factory environment.
    • Strong knowledge of Kenyan labor laws and HR best practices.
    • Experience in employee relations, talent management, and performance evaluation.
    • Proficiency in HR software, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Membership with IHRM (Institute of Human Resource Management) is an added advantage.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

    • Strategic mindset with the ability to align HR policies with business goals.
    • Conflict resolution & problem-solving skills to handle workplace challenges.
    • High integrity and ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, labor-intensive environment.
