Information Systems Security Officer – Head Office at First Community Bank

Job Summary

To ensure required level of security according to the bank’s policy and standards to ensure unwanted access, corruption and loss of data is guarded against.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in the development and implementation of IT policies, standards and procedures to ensure proper operations and maintenance of the IT assets.
• Identifying risks via: analysis of monthly metrics, security assessments, audit reports, regular discussions with the departments; and other means that may be available to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to mitigate exposure.
• Implement agreed action plans against delivery dates to address material risks and any open internal or external audit items or regulatory issues.
• Participation in the implementation of the Group Data Protection and Data Confidentiality programs.
• Responsible for implementing/establishing a process for safeguarding authentication devices against interference, loss and theft.
• Audit and monitoring of internal and external information security infrastructure, including but not limited to Firewalls, Proxy Servers, Anti-Virus, E-mail security applications, Network access
• control applications.
• Ensure access to Information System application is commensurate with need in conjunction with Human resources, Line Managers and regular access reviews.
• Provide technical security expertise to the Head Information Systems Security.
• Regular monitoring of user activities through the Security Incident and Event Monitoring application.
• Provide technical security related support to projects from inception through to successful implementation.
• Support the implementation of procedural, operational and technical Security Architecture enhancements
• Provide support to incident management process and support the implementation of mitigating controls.
• Ensure that all systems are effectively monitored to provide optimum security, performance and availability.
• Perform periodic security vulnerability assessment of the ICT infrastructure and process appropriate remediation.
• Monitor existing processes and procedures for security and integrity of the Information & Technology environment.
• Monitor data backup and recovery procedures for adequacy.

Qualifications:

• Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in computer Science, IT or Engineering related field. Master’s degree an added advantage.
• CISA, CCNA, MCSE, CISM or related
• Proven adequate knowledge of Core Banking system;
• Professional banking qualification a plus
• Have a minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience with a thorough understanding of banks activities.
• Experience in banking industry (all-round banker) or from a financial institution.
