    Internships Family Health Unit (CHAMPS study).

    The Kenya Medical Research Institute is committed to providing the youth with opportunities to acquire, sharpen their knowledge and gain practical skills in order to enhance their employability in line with the Kenya Vision 2030. We have opportunities for internship in the Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance study to conduct Community engagement and Qualitative Rapid Assessments on topical issues related to child and maternal health. These activities are important for sustained acceptability.

    The CHAMPS project has internship opportunities in the Social and Behavioral Science (SBS) section for the following positions:

    Location: KEMRI–CGHR, Kisumu

    Reports to: SBS Coordinator

    1. The interns will be trained on:
    2. Stakeholder mapping and Community Engagement planning
    3. Social science Research Methods (Key Informant Interviewing, Focus group discussions,
    4. Qualitative Rapid Assessments, Transcription, Thematic Analysis
    5. Rumors Surveillance

    Requirements

    Graduates of Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University in a Social Science discipline (Anthropology, Sociology, Community Health, Social work, Community development or related discipline)

    In addition, the applicants must:

    1. Be a Kenyan below 30 years of age; and
    2. Should possess interpersonal and communication skills
    3. Must be a person of integrity

    4. The Internship programme will be for twelve (12) months and monthly stipend of Kes. 25,000 will be given without any other benefits

    CHAMPS project DO NOT provide guarantee of employment in KEMRI after completion of the internship
