    Junior Advisor - Energy and Software Development

    Responsibilities

    The Junior Advisor will be responsible for:

    • Supporting coordination and implementation of project activities by implementing partners and ensure the achievement of the intervention objectives and results.
    • Provide technical advisory to the financial intermediaries on renewable energy technologies particularly PUE technologies
    • Monitoring and reporting on the implementation of project activities related to digitization of village savings and loans associations and promotion of relevant PUE technologies
    • Development of digital solutions for the Innovation Fund Intervention and EnDev portfolio at large but mainly EnDev, EnDev-ABC and EnDev/GCF.

    The Junior Advisor will also be responsible for the following tasks:

    EnDev (40%)

    • Support coordination and implementation of the project by implementing partners in-line with the approved proposal.
    • Contribute towards the achievement of project objectives and KPIs in line with the approved proposal.
    • Support achievement of digitization of village savings and loans associations (VSLAs) and financial intermediaries participating the project.
    • Support the implementation of the awareness creation activities by implementing partners to promote relevant PUE technologies.
    • Support the identification of relevant renewable energy technologies for PUE and orient the financial intermediaries on the same
    • Support establishment of linkages between implementing partners and suppliers of relevant PUE technologies.
    • Preparation of timely routine updates and reporting on the project activities to the EnDev innovation window team.
    • Perform relevant administrative duties to ensure effective implementation of the project
    • Support monitoring and verification of project activities and results against targets.
    • Support the development of digital solutions for financial intermediaries
    • Any other functions assigned by project

    EnDev ABC (30%)

    • Draft the concept note for the ABC Kenya project website ensuring its life beyond the project
    • itself
    • Develop the project website including geolocalisation of built biodigesters
    • Develop an app for easy data collection in partnership with the IVA and biodigester companies
    • Support ABPL in their biodigester troubleshooting app
    • Any other functions assigned by project

    EnDev/GCF (30%)

    • Development and administration of the GCF data management systems
    • Support the development of the GCF knowledge management framework
    • Develop and administer data collection tools on need basis
    • Support in the development and administration of a filing management system
    • Train the team on the use of the applications developed
    • Any other functions assigned by project

    Candidate Profile:

    • The ideal candidate should have an undergraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as engineering, renewable energy or software development.
    • The candidate should also be a competent software developer, capable of using the latest software development technologies for front-end, back-end and mobile applications.

    Desired competence:

    • General understanding of renewable energy technologies and productive use of energy solutions
    • Experience in latest software development tools/technologies and frameworks e.g. Python, React, Django, Bootstrap e.t.c
    • Competency in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite (Office 365, MS Teams, MS SharePoint, Power BI e.t.c)
    • Very good working knowledge of ICT technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, internet and computer applications)
    • Excellent command of English
    • Excellent technical/business report writing skills
    • Able to work independently and perform well under pressure (i.e. handling significant problems and tasks which come up simultaneously and/or unexpectedly and meeting deadlines)
    • Ability to handle confidential information, using good judgement and discernment

    Desired professional experience:

    • At least 2 years work experience particularly in renewable energy and software development. Combination of these is preferred.
    • At least 1.5 years experience in software development (evidence of relevant software applications developed shall be required)
    • Work experience or association (e.g. consultancy) with GIZ is an added advantage

    Method of Application

    Applicants must be available from 21 June 2022 to 09 October 2022 (depending on the role and the election calendar)

    • Place of work is Nairobi and, for some positions, different postings around the country.
