    Junior Production Manager, Documentary Unit

    We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Production Manager to work based out of Television Centre, London on an ambitious new history series, w/t Julius Caesar: Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire (3 x 60’) for BBC TWO and PBS in the USA. The series will involve foreign filming including at historic monuments, heavy use of archive footage, graphics and drama reconstruction sequences.

    We are looking for confident JPM who is able to work independently - who are invested in the content & enjoy contributing to the common goals of a supportive production team.

    Role Responsibility

    • The Junior Production Manager is instrumental in the day to day smooth running of our projects.  You will have delegated decision-making authority from the Production Manager, whilst working within BBC guidelines and frameworks.   You will have line management responsibilities for production management team members and you will be a key part of the production processes, ensuring resources and editorial aspirations are aligned.
    • The JPM will be co-ordinating filming in different countries. They will be across a complex filming schedule and will manage foreign payments, visas and permits where required. They will be a key part of the team through the edit and delivery period. They need to be able to clear and pay for archive and will be working with the Archive Producer during the edit as well as overseeing deliverables.  

    Are you the right candidate?

    • Understands how to create, forecast and manage production budgets
    • Previous experience working on a Documentary series is desirable
    • Solid track record in setting up international shoots
    • Experience dealing with archive & copyright
    • Good working knowledge of tapeless post-production workflow & the ability to run a post-production schedule with multiple deliverables including paperwork
    • Experience in delivering into different broadcasters
    • Experience managing health & safety and sustainability on a production
    • Good communication skills, the ability to manage interpersonal relationships effectively and work collaboratively within a diverse team
    • Proven negotiation skills with the ability to be able to influence, manage and negotiate deals & contracts in line with policies & guidelines
