Junior Research Assistant - 5 Positions at icipe - African Insect Science for Food and Health

Overall Purpose of the Job

• The responsibility of these positions will be to assist in rearing fruit flies, parasitoids and to support bioassay activities in the laboratory.

Specific Duties

•  Maintain vibrant colonies of fruit flies and parasitoids.
•  Assist in conducting bioassays as and when required.

Requirements/Qualifications

•  KCSE or its equivalent with basic skills to perform simple tasks.
•  Expected to have basic knowledge and skills to perform simple tasks. Instructions on the job are adequate to have someone get started.
•  No prior experience is required.
• General appreciation of insect rearing adequate.

Other Desirable Attributes

•  Implementation of all activities requires prior approval from the Supervisor. However, this must be accompanied by sound personal judgment and quick decision-making on aspects affecting work quality or output.
•  Does not supervise the work of others but may assist other employees in their work
