Manager, Life Business at Kenya Reinsurance Corporation Limited (Kenya Re)

Primary Responsibilities

• The main duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to;
• Develop and ensure a timely and efficient implementation of the division’s strategy and Annual Work Plan and Budget (AWB);
• Solicit and receive business offers from existing and potential clients, assessing such offers and determining whether to accept them or not in line with the Corporation’s underwriting policy;
• Manage and carry out local and international underwriting of the business;
• Oversee the administration of Retro Programme for life business;
• Maintain constant liaison with ceding companies/ retro cessionaries and monitor treaty performance by ensuring up to date records are maintained;
• Carry out market visits regularly in the local and international market for new business and for the renewal of existing business;
• Ensure that ceding companies comply with the Corporation’s reinsurance requirements on submissions of returns;
• Follow up on treaty technical statements from the ceding companies;
• Keep a close liaison with the life players market;
• Design appropriate formats for statistics emanating from the Unit;
• Plan for and develop staff; 
• Prepare the performance report and attend management meetings.

THE PERSON
Academic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in insurance or a business related field.

Professional Qualifications

• ACII and/or AIIK.

Experience

• At least 6 years of relevant experience; two of which should be in management.

• Good interpersonal and communication skills;
• Good organization and management skills.
