    Laboratory Technologist

    Vacancy No. CGHR/400/01/24

     Job Specifications

    • Receiving/collecting and recording of study related biological specimens;
    • Isolating, quantifying, and cryopreserving PBMCs.
    • Molecular biology assays: DNA extraction from biological samples and detection of Plasmodium falciparum and EBV using qPCR
    • Immunological assays: ELISA and multiplex bead assay for analyses of Plasmodium falciparum, EBV and other common pathogens.
    • Preparing reagents and managing laboratory supplies inventory
    • Recording and reporting laboratory results;
    • Keeping an updated inventory of all samples collected and generated in the laboratory.
    • Routine and daily monitoring of laboratory equipment.
    • Ensuring adherence to biosafety and biosecurity guidelines;
    • Taking part in preparation of Standards Operations Procedures (SOPs).
    • Attend to any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

    Person Specification

    • Diploma in any of the following fields: Medical Laboratory Sciences, Applied Sciences, Medical Laboratory Technology, Biotechnology or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Registration Certificate and Valid practicing license issued by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) where applicable;
    • Experience in molecular biology and immunological assays are an added advantage;
    • GCP and GCLP trainings;
    • Proficiency in computer application.
