Laboratory Technologist ( Public Health) at Kisii University

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -

• Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Public Health or equivalent qualification from a recognized and accredited institution.
• Registered with relevant professional body;
• Valid practicing license from the relevant professional body;and
• Proficiency in computer applications.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chair of Department duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: -

• Collecting and preparing teaching materials;
• Keeping and Maintenance of laboratory records (chemicals, plastic and glassware, equipment and other consumables);
• Conducting laboratory practicals and demonstrations to undergraduates;
• Ensuring laboratory equipment are kept in good order;
• Collecting, preparing and setting up machines and equipment;
• Ensuring laboratory machines and equipment are serviced, repaired, tested and maintained;
• Supervising and training of junior laboratory staff, students and attachees engaged in laboratory work;
• Ensuring safe use and disposal of chemicals and laboratory waste;
• Receiving, processing and analyzing samples;
• Oversee the cleaning and maintenance of the laboratory / workshop equipment, including re-calibration of equipment;
• Any other lawful duties assigned by the supervisor
