Laundry Attendant at Strathmore University

Basic Job Summary  

• To provide efficient laundry and linen management services by processing, issuing, receiving, and maintaining linen and staff uniforms in accordance with established quality, hygiene, and operational standards. 

Duties and Responsibilities  

Laundry Operations 

• Washing, drying, ironing, folding and other required laundry processes for table linen and STH staff uniforms. 
• Inspect laundry to ensure it is clean, properly processed and ready for use 
• Report damaged, worn-out or defective linen, uniforms and laundry equipment to the laundry supervisor in Charge. 

Linen Issuance and Collection 

• Receive linen requests from students and staff  
• Assess the condition and quantity of received used/dirty linen. 
• Issue the appropriate quantities and types of linen as per the established procedures. 
• Maintain appropriate records of linen issued and received to support accountability. 

Laundry Area & Equipment 

• Maintain cleanliness, order and hygiene within the laundry. 
• Use laundry equipment, detergents and other materials appropriately. 
• Report equipment faults, breakages, damaged or missing linen to the supervisor in Charge. 
• Provide courteous and timely service to students and staff. 
• Observe relevant health, safety and laundry procedures. 

Minimum Academic Qualifications  

• Diploma/Certificate/Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent. 

Work Experience   

• At least one year’s experience in a similar role
