Laundry In-charge at Metropolitan Hospital

DESCRIPTION

• To oversee and manage hospital laundry operations by ensuring timely collection, washing, drying, ironing, and delivery of clean linen and staff uniforms while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, safety, and efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations Management

• Supervise daily laundry operations including collection, washing, drying, ironing, folding, and distribution.
• Ensure proper segregation of soiled, infectious, and non-infectious linen in compliance with hospital infection control protocols.
• Monitor washing procedures to maintain quality and hygiene standards.
• Maintain an adequate supply of clean linen, uniforms, and other hospital laundry requirements.

Staff Supervision & Training

• Supervise, train, and schedule laundry staff to ensure smooth workflow.
• Monitor staff performance and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Conduct regular training on infection prevention, hygiene, and safe handling of laundry.

Equipment & Inventory Management

• Oversee proper use and maintenance of laundry machines and equipment.
• Coordinate with the Engineering department for repair and servicing.
• Maintain inventory of detergents, disinfectants, and other laundry supplies.
• Track linen usage, losses, and damages, and recommend replacements.

Hygiene, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with hospital infection control guidelines and occupational health & safety standards.
• Implement waste management practices for laundry operations.
• Maintain cleanliness of the laundry area at all times.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

• Keep records of laundry operations, machine maintenance, staff rosters, and stock usage.
• Generate periodic reports on laundry operations and challenges.
• Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness

QUALIFICATIONS

• Diploma in Laundry Management, Hospitality, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in institutional laundry management (hospital/hotel preferred).
• Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices.
• Supervisory experience with strong leadership skills.
• Strong organizational and supervisory skills.
• Attention to detail and quality standards.
• Knowledge of laundry equipment operation and maintenance.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
