Legal Manager at Zanifu

The Legal Manager will oversee all legal affairs of the company, ensuring robust legal risk management, compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and protection of the company's interests in all transactions and operations. This position plays a critical role in supporting commercial lending activities, securities management, cross-border financing, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.

What you will do:

• Drafting and reviewing a wide range of contracts, loan agreements, and term sheets.
• Managing securities: from charges, debentures, and moveable properties security rights
• Leading cross-border loan transactions and advising on regulatory and tax implications.
• Ensuring compliance with regulators, CBK, FRC and ODPC will be an added advantage.
• Supporting corporate governance and liaising with external counsel and registries.
• Preparing C-Suite legal reports and advising on legal risk and exposure.
• Providing hands-on legal support to product, finance, operations, and executive teams.
• Attending to company litigation matters and arbitration proceedings.
• Conducting internal legal audits and proactively managing legal risk.

What We’re Looking For:

• Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practicing certificate.
• At least 3 years of post-admission experience, preferably in a fintech or busy commercial environment.
• Strong knowledge of commercial law, securities, conveyancing, financial regulation and strong litigation skills.
• Confident in interpreting loan documents and managing both local and international transactions.
• Excellent legal drafting, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
• A strategic thinker who can communicate complex legal matters in simple terms.
• High integrity, independence, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
