    Legal Officer

    Summary

    The Nursing Council  of Kenya wishes to recruit highly competent, passionate, dedicated and self-driven individuals to fill the following vacant position(s): NCK Legal Officer

    Terms and Remuneration

    • Terms of Service – Permanent and Pensionable
    • Salary: from KES. 103,816 – 123,311 per month

    Job specifications

    An Officer at this level may be deployed in either the Legal Services Division or the Council Secretariat Unit.

    Legal Services

    Duties and responsibilities entail:

    • Collecting and collating legal data;
    • Representing the Council in litigations and other legal matters;
    • Advising management on legal requirements and prosecution procedures;
    • Ensuring compliance with the legal framework, agreements and contracts;
    • Preparing Preliminary Legal Documents/Instruments i.e., agreements, MOUs;
    • Drafting Legal Opinions;
    • Carrying out research on emerging legal issues;
    • Opening and Preparing Case Files; and
    • Maintaining Case Registers.

    Council Secretariat Unit

    Duties and responsibilities entail:

    • Providing administration and legal support to the wider Council functions;
    • With the guidance of the Corporation Secretary, manage the diary of events of the
      Council;
    • Facilitate travel and accommodation logistics for the Council events and Meetings including refreshments, transport arrangements and distribution of the applicable documentation;
    • Support the production of reports and documents for various meetings including the full Council and Council Committee Meetings;
    • Provide logistical support for the Council Induction program;
    • Timely archive of e-Council online documentation including organization and retention processes on e-Council.

    Person specifications

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

    • Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree from a recognized institution;
    • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;
    • Current Law Practicing Certificate;
    • Be a member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK);
    • Proficiency in computers applications; and
    • Fulfill the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution.

    Method of Application

    • Police Clearance Certificate from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI);
    • Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) Clearance/Compliance Certificate;
    • A Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA);
    • Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) i.e. Completed First Schedule (s.13) and a self-declaration form; and
    • A Clearance Certificate from an Approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) in Kenya.
