    Livestock and Wildlife Officer

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY 

    • Monitoring the health of livestock and wildlife by conducting disease surveillance and examination. 
    • Administering drugs and vaccinations to livestock
    • Maintaining records regarding livestock; feedings, vaccinations, breeding schedules and general livestock welfare 
    • Monitoring of animal health, performance, and feeding requirements and other pertinent information about animals on the ranch
    • Coordinate with students and researchers to ensure livestock related research needs are effectively established and met
    • Evaluating livestock operations to ensure that goals are met
    • Providing leadership to employees by setting an example of work ethic and encouraging them to perform their best
    • Organize and conduct general farm activities including livestock control, pest management, dehorning, branding, tagging and dipping 
    • Establish staffing needs, and communicate them to the Head of HR for implementation.
    • Planning and coordinating monthly livestock stock take.
    • Preparing annual and quarterly reports on livestock operations, budgets and financial reports.
    • Benchmarking with related organizations to ensure best practices are implemented.
    • Coordinating with relevant wildlife authorities on treatment and management of wildlife.
    • Any other tasks that may be assigned from time to time

    Minimum Qualifications
    The job holder must possess:

    • At least a Bachelors’ degree in Veterinary medicine 
    • At least five years’ experience in livestock/ wildlife clinical interventions
    • Registration with relevant regulatory authorities
    • Proven leadership capabilities
    • Ability to work in and with communities
    • Excellent communication and report writing skills
    • Experience working in a laboratory will be an added advantage
