    Deputy Project Director

    DPD/LVCT/11/2022

    Key Responsibilities
    Technical support - 30%

    • Responsible for technical direction for the Vukisha95 program in Kisii in areas including HIV, GBV, RMNCAH and Health Systems Strengthening. S/he will work closely with the larger Vukisha95 team, donor, County and LVCT Health HQ team
    • Be knowledgeable about all Vukisha95 project areas and keep abreast with the latest
    • developments in the program areas at the national and local levels and facilitate the transfer of
    • the knowledge to the Vukisha95 technical teams in Kisii county  Ensure all projects achieve donor targets in a timely manner and consistently 
    • Support the Technical and Operations staff by providing oversight, management and technical
    • direction for the implementation of activities that will lead to the achievement of the 95:95:95
    • cascade of HIV care targets for paediatrics, adolescents and adults in supported sites and counties 
    • Develop and implement a peer review process to continually bridge performance gaps in the
    • foundation, including sharing lessons learned and best practices adopted
    • Ensure high-quality standards are maintained in program implementation and reporting consistently Project management - 25%
    • Coordinate the TAs and technical officers across all the counties to deliver on the program priorities
    • Ensure that annual work plans/continuation application, budgets and individual staff action plans are developed and implemented in a timely manner and that the various activities and outputs are clearly linked to the overall project performance monitoring plan.
    • Develop and implement a project management structure that facilitates and encourages continuous learning, and data use for decision making and teamwork
    • Facilitate weekly, monthly, and quarterly meetings within and across teams for planning and progress review with clear action points and responsibilities and Ensure regular and structured follow-through of action points 
    • Provide day-to-day approval for travel and other logistical support for all activities being implemented by direct reporting officers. 
    • Line management, capacity building and motivation for direct reports erformance appraisal for direct reports and ensuring appraisals are done regularly and on time across the department 
    • Ensure program teams receive adequate technical guidance to ensure programs are of good quality &innovative
    • Ensure program compliance with grant rules and regulations Partnerships, linkages, networking and integration – 15%
    • Support the Project Director in raising Vukisha95 visibility and presence in supported counties through Participation in County stakeholders’ meetings/Joint LVCT Health & CHMT Meetings
    • and Form strategic relationships with other implementing partners, including donors and private/FBO sector 
    • Participation in CDC/PEPFAR high-level meetings
    • Undertake health systems strengthening functions and lead in county transition processes

    Required qualifications, experience and skills 

    • A degree in Medicine
    • Master’s degree in social sciences, public health, medicine, business administration, or related qualifications will be of added advantage. 
    • At least eight years of experience in a senior role managing and implementing complex public
    • health programs of similar scope and size in a development context 
    • Experience implementing comprehensive PEPFAR programs 
    • At least five years of demonstrated experience in managing and supervising a technical team and in a similar project design. 
    • At least five years of experience at mid or senior level in the following areas: HIV and AIDS in
    • Kenya and demonstrate experience in two of the following areas: quality improvement/quality assurance; community health, human resources for health development; M&E; and operations research.
    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships, create synergies and work effectively with CDC, government representatives, NGOs, for-profit private sector entities, local community organizations, donors and other stakeholders, particularly at the sub-national level.
    • Professional-level proficiency in oral and written fluency in the English language.
    • Strong management skills, leadership qualities, professional reputation, ability to create
    • synergies where applicable, interpersonal skills, and written and oral presentation skills
