    Managing Director

    Job Purpose

    [KNSL/MD/07/2026]

    • The Managing Director shall be responsible to the Board for the strategic leadership, management and overall performance of the Company, providing visionary leadership, ensuring sound corporate governance, financial stewardship, regulatory compliance, enterprise risk management and delivery of the Company's strategic ob- jectives.

    Job Specifications

    • Spearheading formulation, Initiate review and lead implementation of the Company's policies, strategies, procedures and guidelines;
    • Lead implementation of the Board - approved strategic plan and annual business plans:
    • Providing strategic leadership and overall management of the Company;
    • Executing and communicating the Board's strategies, decisions and policies and advise the Board on strategic and operational matters;
    • Developing and recommending to the Board annual business plans of the Company;
    • Serve as Accounting and Authorized officer in accordance with applicable laws;
    • Overseeing day-to-day operations of the company;
    • Responsible for stakeholders' management and the enhancement of the Company's corporate image;
    • Providing linkage between the Board and the Management;
    • Ensure prudent financial, human capital and asset management of the Company,
    • Ensuring regular and accurate preparation of budget, financial statements and other reports;
    • Drive commercial growth, operational excellence and customer service;
    • Develop partnerships and manage stakeholder relations;
    • Champion enterprise risk management, business continuity, digital transformation and innovation;
    • Promote sustainability, environmental stewardship and organizational performance;
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation and regulatory requirements;
    • Fostering a culture that promotes ethical and good governance; and
    • Build a high-performance workforce through talent and performance management.

    Person Specifications

    • At least fifteen (15) years relevant work experience, five (5) of which must be in a senior management level;
    • Bachelor's degree in any of the following disciplines: Maritime Studies, Maritime Law, Marine Engineer- ing, Economics, Finance, Commerce, Corporate Governance or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Master's degree in any of the following disciplines: Maritime Studies, Maritime Law, Marine Engineering, Economics, Finance, Commerce, Corporate Governance or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Membership to a relevant professional body;
    • Certificate in Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution; Demonstrated experience in strategic leadership, corporate governance, financial management, and stakeholder engagement; and
    • Meet the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
