    Marketing Communications Manager

    • The Marketing & Communications Manager will be based in our Kenya office, reporting to the Central Office in Washington, DC, USA. This role focuses on two key facets: enhancing brand visibility across TREES’ operational countries and delivering project content for supporter engagement. This role reports to the Deputy Director of Marketing and Communications and requires creativity, strong communication skills, and adaptability to work independently within a dynamic nonprofit environment. This role will require regular travel to East and West Africa. 

    In this role, you will…

    Strategy & Implementation: 

    • Develop and execute in-country brand visibility and PR strategies for Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Senegal, and Mali. 
    • Identify and cultivate media and advertising contacts, securing interviews and spots to amplify TREES’ presence. 
    • Attain extensive knowledge about our projects in each country to effectively message our impact and mission to both internal and external audiences. 
    • Support content creation for various channels, including social media, emails, and website, as the central office sees fit.  
    • Analyze campaign effectiveness and report on outcomes. 
    • Advocate for communication needs within country programs to align with marketing objectives. 

    Asset Management & Training: 

    • Maintain TREES Assets Library for country visuals. 
    • Conduct media and communications training for country representatives. 
    • Coordinate photographic and videographic shoots at program sites. 
    • Conduct farmer and staff interviews to gather impactful stories. 

    Stakeholder Engagement: 

    • Integrate donor and partner communication needs into marketing initiatives. 
    • Coordinate materials for in-country events and organizational materials and ensure branding consistency. 
    • Champion the company brand identity across all materials. 

    Collaboration & Coordination: 

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to produce effective assets. 
    • Inform country communication strategies and support organizational alignment. 
    • Facilitate regular meetings to support and understand various department’s priorities and goals 
    • Ensure proper financial processes are conducted to support budget management 

    You’ll be a great fit if you have…

    Required: 

    • Based in Nairobi or Kisumu, Kenya. 
    • Fluent in English (Swahili and French strongly preferred). 
    • Excellent writing, verbal communication, and public speaking skills. 
    • Must have knowledge of Pan-African and Western PR and media landscape. 
    • Experience in PR and marketing with AP writing style proficiency. 
    • Enthusiastic about TREES’ mission with a basic understanding of global climate, farmer, and poverty issues. 
    • Detail-oriented, with excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset. 
    • Willingness to travel and adapt to changing environments. 
    • Proficient in Adobe InDesign of Canva for marketing materials development and branding guidelines application. 

    Preferred: 

    • Experience in photography, videography, graphic design, and editing.
