Medical Specialist (Internal Medicine) at Turkana County Government

Requirements and competencies for appointment: -

• Holder of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree or Equivalent degree from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board of Kenya;
• Master’s degree in Medicine /Internal Medicine from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board of Kenya;
• Certificate of Registration as medical practitioner by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board of Kenya;
• Specialist recognition certificate from KMP&DB;
• Valid practicing license from Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board of Kenya (KMPDB).

Duties and Responsibilities: -

• Reviewing patients medical history and planning the best procedure for treatment;
• Undertaking “First-on-call duties including clerking investigation and managing patients
• Conducting weekly clinics and theatre days
• Managing health facilities at various tiers in communities.
• Responding to intern call, trainings, supervising and mentoring medical officers(intern) and other students
• Performing emergency surgeries, undertaking medical examinations and preparing medical Board proceedings
• Carrying out community diagnosis, care and treatment
• Ensuring data and information is collected, transmitted and utilized to benefit the customer and service provider
• Conducting disease surveillance. prevention and control;
• Carrying out health education and promotion and preparing medical reports
