Job Description

Requirements for Appointment 

• Have served in the grade of chief physical planner for a minimum period of three (3) years or cumulative working experience of at least six (6) years in the relevant field from the public or private sector. 
• Have a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Urban and Regional Planning, Town planning from a recognized institution 
• Be a corporate member of the Kenya Institute of Planners or Architectural Association of Kenya (Town Planning Chapter) 
• Is registered as a physical planner under the Physical Planners Registration Act, 1996, and is in good standing with the relevant professional body 
• Have a certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution 
• Have a certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution vii. Have demonstrated merit and shown ability as reflected in work performance and results

Duties and Responsibilities 

• Initiating, preparing, and monitoring the implementation of county and local physical and land use development plans 
• Preparing action plans for specific projects such as residential housing schemes, shopping centers, industrial estates, and recreational facilities
• Providing advice to government and private agencies on development proposals and plans 
• Implementing and providing feedback on physical and land use planning guidelines and standards v. Undertaking thematic regional studies on matters relating to physical and land use planning 
• Managing physical planning data vii. Providing advice on development control 
• Carrying out public education on physical and land use planning matters 
• Preparing annual state of physical planning reports on county and local physical planning development plans
