Job description:

• The Nutritionist designs, manages, and delivers nutritional assessments, dietary counseling, and therapeutic nutrition interventions across facility's mobile outreach operations and wellness programs. The role focuses on preventative health, management of lifestyle and metabolic diseases, and targeted nutritional care for diverse patient demographics.

Key Responsibilities

​Nutritional Assessment & Care Planning

• Conduct comprehensive anthropometric and nutritional assessments (e.g., BMI, body composition analysis, dietary recall, clinical history) during mobile clinic visits and corporate wellness programs
• Formulate evidence-based, customized dietary plans and lifestyle modification strategies tailored to patient health profiles, cultural preferences, and socio-economic factors.
• Provide clinical nutritional management for patients with chronic non-communicable diseases (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, obesity, cardiovascular conditions) and acute nutritional deficiencies.

​Education & Community Outreach

• Design and deliver group health education sessions, corporate wellness workshops, and community nutrition talks.
• ​Develop clear, accessible educational materials such as meal guide charts, nutritional brochures, recipe guidelines) for diverse target audiences.
• Provide pre- and post-natal nutritional counseling, as well as infant and young child feeding guidelines during maternal/child outreach initiatives.

​Cross-Functional Collaboration & Field Integration

• ​Partner closely with Clinicians, Triage Nurses, and Mobile Clinic Managers to provide integrated primary care and holistic management plans.
• Maintain precise patient records, documenting nutritional assessments, progress notes, and counseling outcomes in the electronic health record system.
• ​Refer high-risk clinical cases or severe acute malnutrition patients to specialized healthcare facilities when necessary.

 Program Monitoring & Compliance

• ​Monitor, log, and analyze patient health outcomes and dietary compliance metrics to evaluate service effectiveness.
• ​Manage inventory and quality control for specialized nutritional supplements, meal plans, and diagnostic measurement tools used in the field.
• Adhere to national nutrition guidelines, statutory healthcare regulations, and patient confidentiality standards.

​Key Competencies & Qualifications

• ​Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Diploma in Human Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent qualification.
• ​Active registration and valid practicing license from the Kenya Nutritionists & Dieticians Institute.
• ​At least 2 – 3 years of professional experience as a practicing nutritionist or dietitian in clinical, community outreach, corporate wellness, or mobile clinic environments.
• Strong expertise in clinical dietetics, preventive health education, anthropometric techniques, and patient-centered counseling.
• Excellent interpersonal and public speaking capabilities in diverse field settings.
