The Operations Specialist will report to the Managing Director. Critical responsibilities will include but not limited operations management, Freight management system management, billing and payment collection.
Responsibilities
Leading and developing the operations team
Team support and organization – direct involvement in the process of quotations/tenders/operations
End-to-end responsibility for all freight transactions
Managing relationships with customers – a personal relationship with current exporters/importers, research for new opportunities, securing and growing new business locally
Negotiate and coordinate spot rates and/or quotations for LCL, FCL, air shipments, and all services within our client’s database.
Display a thorough understanding of industry-related terminology and processes.
Strategize ways of increasing profit margins, while keeping costs at a minimum.
Communicate with management on pricing desk performance and any issues that arise.
Follow up on quotations as needed and communicate positive or negative feedback in respect of being able to source the competitive rate to support the closure of all business opportunities.
Manage the login of all quotes and follow up on the quotes using the freight management system and CRM.
Perform other related duties and projects as requested or assigned by management.
Understand clients’ needs in order to strategy the costing and or pricing.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL BE:
Fluent in English & Swahili
Wide experience in air/ocean freight forwarding business.

Qualifications
Degree Or Diploma in Logistics, Freight Forwarding, or a similar discipline.
Minimum 3 years experience in Sales and Account Management in the
Ability to influence, negotiate and resolve internal and external conflicts.
Powers of persuasion, diplomatic panache, and excellent command of English & Swahili language.
