    Job Description

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Operation and Service:

    • Receipt of work at payments Verify signatures on Telegraphic Transfers-E17, salaries, transfers, and other instructions.
    • Control and reconciliation of controlled stationery working stock at payments. Checking, processing, and verifying both manually and electronically the following Payments and Cash management related products:
    • Ensure all title documents are handled as per the bank procedures held under dual control Ensure all customer instructions are logged in the respective registers and actioned as per SLA
    • Ensure all requests are properly authorized and signatures verified and meet the International Payments rules before processing.
    • Ensure revenue is collected as per current/approved tariff. Ensure all errors are captured and resolved within the SLA.
    • Ensure daily reconciliation of liability accounts is done. Daily actioning of reports.
    • Daily actioning of the Diaries and Nostro.

    • Promote teamwork at Payments.
    • Provide ways and means of challenging the way we have always done our things. Challenge the status quo.

    Compliance and Controls:

    • Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Absa Policies and Policy Standards.
    • Understand and manage risks and risk events (incidents) relevant to the role.
    • Ensure adherence to the Group IT security policy and controls in accessing the system Comply with Operational risk and rigour in respect to protecting our people, customers, assets, and the organization.
    • Carry out snap-checks in a timely manner.

    Knowledge and skills:

    • Good knowledge of branch-based products and services frequently used by corporate customers, including features and set-up arrangements.
    • A good understanding and working knowledge of all computer systems and applications used at Payments.
    • Good knowledge of all trade products.
    • An understanding of the team performance objectives.
    • A working knowledge of relevant legislation e.g. KYC, Money Laundering, Service standards, Healthy and Safety Standards etc. Excellent Customer Service.

    • Proficient in internal computer Operating Systems and Applications.
    • Numeric and Analytical skills.
    • Team working skills
    • Good interpersonal skills
    • Trade products knowledge. International rules governing trade.
    • Knowledge of the International Trade Rules.

    Education

    Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC): Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
