    Physiotherapist– National Staff

    YOUR MISSION:

    Key role:

    • The Physiotherapist's (PT) main responsibility is to manage and support the delivery of physical and functional rehabilitation services in collaboration with Occupational Therapist (OT), Prosthetic and Orthotic Technicians (P&O), and Psychosocial Workers (PSS). The Project Manager (PM) directly supervises the position, with an indirect link to the Regional Rehabilitation Specialist (RRS) for technical and quality-related support.
    • The PT work directly with children with Disability and their caregiver, accompanied by the CBR worker, in service delivery, home follow-up, and family education in continuous rehabilitation care, ensuring the achievement of goals and skills to improve activities of daily living (ADL).
    • The PT supervises the work of the Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) workers, ensuring the highest quality performance in service delivery and follow-up in the community. At the same time contributes to the capacity building and skilling of the CBR workers while working on the project.

    Responsibility 1: Delivery of direct services to people with Disability in the refugee camp with Community Rehabilitation Workers following an integrated approach – 40%

    • Perform individual assessments, planning, and treatment of people with physical and functional disabilities, including prescription, and training on use and maintenance of assistive devices.
    • Conduct monthly inventory and prepare a timely request for rehabilitation consumables and equipment and submitted to the PM.
    • Re-assess, evaluate, and report case progress using rehabilitation outcome measure tools.
    • Provide home exercise training to beneficiaries and their caregivers with the CBR workers.
    • Review case file for re-assessment and discharge according to the degree of functional improvement and achievement of rehabilitation goals.
    • Supervise the center-based and community workers in providing rehabilitation and social integration of persons with disabilities and their families/caregivers in the community.
    • Follow-up and support the activities of CRW in the center and the community
    • Participate and contribute to the monthly/quarterly interdisciplinary case meetings organized with PM and RRS.

    Responsibility 2: Support the sustainability of learning and skills to the community rehabilitation workers and partners – 25%

    • Conduct training needs assessments, design, development, facilitating training, and follow-up learning in the field and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team in delivering basic rehabilitation training to all community workers.
    • Organize peer-to-peer training on basic rehabilitation skills with the beneficiaries and family members through the community workers.
    • Coordinate with the PM and RRS to validate training and other project technical requirements used in the project activities.
    • Coordinate the recruitment, training, and mentorship of new refugee CRWs supporting the project.
    • Mentor and coach CRWs on the job and submit (simple) performance evaluation reports.

    Responsibility 3: Coordination and collaboration with partners in quality service delivery and disability inclusion. – 15%

    • Participate in service and partner mapping to coordinate and refer cases within and outside the refugee camp.
    • Contribute to preparing annual international celebration calendars with the team and partners.
    • Coordinate and promote synergies of HI rehabilitation workers and those of other partners for smooth implementation of activities and better teamwork at the community level.
    • Represent HI in the refugee camps' different thematic working groups (Child protection, Health, GBV, Shelter, WASH, and Youth Protection) and provide feedback to the PM.

    Responsibility 4: Contribute to HI project quality standards – 20%

    • Contribute to the development and management of the budget allocated for rehabilitation activities.
    • Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual technical reports on physical therapy-related progress, indicators, and data.
    • Support documentation and sharing of impact/success stories and best practices to promote learning
    • Conduct and submit monthly/quarterly performance evaluations of the CRW.
    • Participate in the data collection and reporting process by ensuring tools are used correctly by the Therapist and CRW.
    • Participate in the project's overall implementation and achieving objectives, anticipating any responsibilities assigned by the Project Manager.

    YOUR PROFILE :

    Educational background and experience

    • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy
    • With at least 4 years of work experience in a private or public institution or NGO with experience in management and supervision
    • Experience in delivering community or home-based physiotherapy services

    Technical Competencies

    • Knowledge of Rehabilitative Services and Assistive Technology and current trends
    • Knowledge of Kenya Refugee Response Framework
    • Knowledge of disability law/policies in Kenya
    • Knowledge and skills in training design and development, and facilitation
    • Knowledge of the UNCRPD and IASC guidelines on Disability Inclusion
    • Advocacy and awareness raising
