    Principal Education for Sustainable Development Officer

    REF NO: NEMA.MNG/PESDO/26/4/2022 

    Job specifications

    Duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to: -

    1. Ensuring integration of education for sustainable development (ESD) into formal and non-formal education;
    2. Coordinating capacity building and ensuring optimum participation of the Kenyan public in ESD activities;
    3. Promoting Public Awareness on ESD policy through non-formal education, public information and campaigns;
    4. Ensuring development of ESD, information, education and communication (IEC) material;
    5. Disseminating ESD information through manuals, codes and articles;
    6. Preparing exhibitions on ESD and other environmental best practices;
    7. Liaising with other lead agencies to ensure ESD policy is implemented;
    8. Ensuring ESD material is available in the library for users;
    9. Exchanging ESD information with national and international agencies and institutions

    Requirements for appointment:

    For appointment to this position, a candidate must have:

    1. Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields: Environmental Education, Environmental Sciences; Education; Natural Resources Management; Sociology, Community Development, or any other relevant field from a recognized institution;
    2. Master’s Degree in any of the following fields: Environmental Education, Environmental Law; Environmental Policy; Education; Environmental Sciences; Natural Resources Management; Sociology, Community Development, Development Studies or any other relevant field from a recognized institution;
    3. A minimum period of eight (8) years relevant work experience and at least three (3) years in a supervisory role in the Public Service or Private Sector;
    4. Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
    5. Proficiency in computer applications;
    6. Good Communication skills;
    7. Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the constitution and;
    8. Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
