    Program Lead, Advanced HIV Disease (AHD)

    AD/11/270/23 - 1 POST

    The Project

    The University of Nairobi has received funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to support implementation of the Kenya Health Partnerships for Quality Services (HIV, FP/RMNCAH, Nutrition and WASH) in Nairobi and Kajiado Counties through the USAID Fahari ya Jamii Project. To successfully implement the Project seeks to competitively fill the above position:

    The Position

    This is a fulltime position based in Nairobi Position Profile: The overall function of this position is to ensure effective implementation of quality HIV care and treatment services in supported counties. Responsible for working closely with the program staff to build capacities and institutionalize HIV care key strategies including advanced HIV disease (AHD) diagnosis and package management following national policies and World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations.

    Duties and responsibilities
    The specific job responsibilities will include:

    •  Oversee the implementation of AHD Program at all USAID Fahari ya Jamii supported sites in Nairobi and Kajiado Counties.
    •  With a client-focused approach, work to improve screening, diagnosis and treatment of AHD
    •  Manage relationship with stakeholders at County and sub county level, and coordinate with them for improved program performance and leveraging government services for sustainability
    •  Support site level Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and strengthen capacity of facility MDT to increasingly use their data to support improvements for patient case management.
    •  Maintain thorough documentation of activities and tracks deliverables. Ensure achievement of the annual service delivery targets and develop remedial plans where the targets fall short.
    •  Ensure synergy with the sub county technical (Hub) teams in site level supervision.
    •  Review monthly/quarterly reports and quality of care indicators routinely and provide guidance and recommendations related to tracked indicators and outcomes.
    •  Coordinate dashboard reviews of clinical outcomes and utilize project data to prioritize interventions.
    •  Maintain current knowledge of medical practice standards and developments.
    •  Any additional duties as assigned

    Job specifications

    •  Have a degree in Medicine and surgery with at least four (4) years’ experience.
    •  Advanced HIV/TB Care and Treatment trainings will be a distinct advantage.
    •  Hands on clinical experience in HIV service delivery and technical coordination.
    •  Proven experience and familiarity with MOH/GOK health systems.
