    Project Officer – Health

    Job Summary:

    CRS will be supporting 195 health facilities in Kisumu and Nairobi, 810 health care workers and 575 Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) to early detect, provide messaging and surveillance at the community level on COVID-19. In Kisumu the project intends to support 50 MOH/Private health facilities and 11 KCCB health facilities. From these health facilities, CRS will support training of 238 health care workers and 205 CHVs in Kisumu County. CRS will also support surveillance in the seven sub-counties of Kisumu through the trained community health volunteers, community health assistants(CHA) and surveillance officers. The project will coordinate radio and community messaging on covid-19 prevention uptake.

    Job Responsibilities:

    1. Coordinate and work closely with the Kisumu County Health Management Team (CHMT) in supporting KCCB and MOH/Private health facilities to ensure the training of 138 health care workers and 205 community health volunteers.
    2. Engage and strengthen partnerships relevant with county governments especially CHMT, SCHMT and HFs to facilitate COVID-19 Surveillance and response.
    3. Coordinate capacity strengthening activities to the health care workers in the supported health facilities by the CHM
    4. Represent CRS in the Kisumu County COVID 19 response stakeholders’ meetings
    5. Champion documentation, learning and data use for decision making.
    6. Identify/adapt and promote evidence-based best practices that can be replicated to improve COVID-19 prevention.

    Required/Desired Foreign Language:

    Travel Required:

    • Must be willing to travel up to 40% of the time to Kisumu county region.  

    Key Working Relationships:

    • Supervisory: No supervisory role.
    • Internal: Health team 
    • External: CHMT, SCHMT and Health Facilities, Interior Ministry staff and community leaders.

    Qualifications

    1. Typical Background, Experience & Requirements:
    2. Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Clinical medicine or a related field. A relevant master’s degree would be an added advantage
    3. A minimum of 4 years for Bachelors’ degree holders or at least 3 years progressive experience for master’s holders in HIV/AIDS management and other health-related projects in Kenya and for an NGO.
    4. In-depth understanding of donor expectations for program results, outcomes, impact, and reporting.
    5. Experience in participatory action planning and engagement of stakeholders at various levels.
    6. Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data preferred.
    7. Excellent understating of GOK structures and systems, and demonstrated experience managing relationships with government structures.
    8. Experience working with Local Implementing Partners and government key departments
    9. Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

    MEAL Competencies:

    1. Track project MEAL requirements – both CRS MEAL Policies and Procedures (MPP) and donor requirements.
    2. Work with MEAL staff and partner staff to implement the MPP and donor MEAL requirements applicable to your projects.
    3. Complete the annual MEAL procedure self-assessment for your project, and develop action plan to advance MEAL practice.
