    Publishing Manager

    Role Description

    • This is a full-time role for a Publishing Manager. The Publishing Manager will be responsible for overseeing the publication of various HR Management services materials such as reports, articles, and research publications. The role is located in Nairobi County, Kenya, with flexibility for some remote work.

    Qualifications

    • To lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive book publishing strategy.
    • Responsible for the coordination and administration of the entire publication process for books, including sourcing and managing relationships with external vendors (technical editors, permissions editors, indexers, designers, Managing inventory, reprints, and revisions.
    • To evaluate and improve processes; optimize publishing efficiency and quality
    • To work with authors to ensure each manuscript's substance is tight and engaging, that key messages are honed and highlighted, and that technical information is clear and relevant.
    • To maintain an exceptionally high level of quality and accuracy in every book.
    • To use excellent writing and editing skills to help authors express their ideas clearly, concisely, and creatively, and help design a suitable narrative for their work.
    • To manage and establish relationships with all stakeholders: compositors, proofreaders & editors, translators, printers/book manufacturers), associations, governmental agencies, sales partners at trade fairs, partner organizations, etc.
    • To manage the books budget, P&Ls, and finances; meet established revenue goals.
    • To complete routine managerial reports
    • To plan and execute marketing initiatives including promotional campaigns for especially new book releases negotiating distribution contracts and collaborating with distributors
    • To identify risks, and issues, and propose mitigation measures
    • To conduct competitive intelligence, analyze market trends, and anticipate future needs.
