    QSSK-AI-HRM-HR Manager - Agriculture

    Job Summary:

    • The HR Manager will be responsible for leading and managing human resource initiatives and programs within the Agriculture Department. This role involves working closely with departmental heads and employees to foster a positive work culture, facilitate talent management, and ensure compliance with HR policies and regulations in delivery of the HR cycle. This role requires a flexible, independent thinker with the ability to work with diverse teams

    KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • HR strategies: Develop and implement HR strategy aligned with the objectives of the Agriculture Department and the overall company strategy.
    • Recruitment: Oversee the recruitment and selection process for departmental staff, ensuring the acquisition of skilled and qualified talent within the budgeted manpower staff levels. Oversee a robust on boarding/induction program for all staff joining the department.
    • Employee Relations: Manage employee relations, addressing concerns, conflicts, and grievances in collaboration with departmental heads; while providing coaching as per company policy and best practice.
    • Training & Development: Develop and implement training and development programs to enhance employee skills and productivity; manage the Graduate Management Program.
    • Performance Management: Develop and support staff development through administering performance management processes, including performance appraisals and goal-setting for the department's employees. Support the line managers and supervisors in managing the performance cycle.
    • Record Keeping: Manage and maintain HR records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
    • Compliance: To lead and guide the department in adherence to labour laws, HR policies, and company regulations; as a way of mitigating company exposure to lawsuits. Conduct audits to identify and address compliance gaps.
    • HR Metrics & Analytics: Monitor and utilize key HR metrics to drive business initiatives and advice the leadership.
    • HR Reporting: Preparation of HR reports and/or presentations for the management/leadership as and when required accordingly.
    • Financial contribution: support improved cost efficiency for revenue growth by reducing wastage of resources, collaborate with the Head of Department and employees to e.g facilitate proper leave management to reduce leave liability, employee absence management and other avenues of leakage.
    • Employee engagement: Develop and implement initiatives that prompt employee engagement, undertake surveys and work with the Heads of Department to close identified gaps.
    • Networking: Expand and strengthen external strategic networks with relevant county offices, GOK departments/agencies, business associations, police service and any other offices as necessary.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a business related field. A Master's degree will be an added advantage
    • Certification from IHRM
    • Proven experience in human resources management at least 5+ years preferably within an agricultural or related industry. Experience in the sugar industry is a plus.
    • Strong understanding of labourur laws, HR best practices, and regulatory compliance.
    • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability in problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making.
    • Proficient in HR software and systems.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team and interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
    • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft windows environment, (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
    • Flexible approach to working, able to pick up a variety of tasks/projects with minimal supervision
    • Good understanding of labour relations.
    • Knowledge in forecasting and budgeting
