    Qualitative Field Interviewers

    APHRC invites applications for Qualitative Field Interviewers in its NRF-School Nutrition Project, to be conducted in Nairobi and Kiambu counties between April to May 2023. The main objective of the project is to identify school nutrition programs/interventions that are implemented in Urban and Peri-Urban areas in Kenya, the challenges and facilitators in their implementation, and potential solutions to the challenges experienced.

    Minimum Qualifications

    1. A first degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Anthropology, Social sciences, or a closely related field
    2. Fluent in English and Swahili, in both oral and written form
    3. Have proven experience and skills in qualitative research work
    4. Ability to facilitate interviews and group discussions in English and Swahili
    5. Have experience in note-taking during qualitative interviews
    6. Have strong interpersonal and communication skills
    7. Have excellent computer skills and proficiency in using smartphones and electronic gadgets
    8. Be a resident in one of the study areas listed above
    9. Experience in conducting school-based surveys/interviews will be an added advantage.

    Job Description (responsibilities):

    1. Recruit/ mobilize eligible participants
    2. Moderate/ facilitate qualitative interviews and stakeholder workshops with various people at the national, subnational, community, and school level
    3. Take notes and compile comprehensive qualitative interview debriefing notes
    4. Hold debrief discussions and exploration of ideas between the interviewers and the investigators
    5. Prepare data collection progress updates and reports
    6. Other related activities assigned by the supervisor and project manager.

    The candidates should be:

    1. Residents of one of the two study areas, namely Nairobi and Kiambu (area of residence should be clearly indicated in the CV or cover letter)
    2. Be prepared to work full-time on the project for the duration of the data collection
    3. Flexible and available to work odd hours (when necessary) under minimal supervision.
