Regional Communications Specialist at TechnoServe Kenya

Job Summary:

• Under the overall guidance of the Global Communications Manager, the Regional Communications Specialist will support in developing and implementing a branding, marketing, and communications strategy for IGNITE. S/He will support communications activities on the project, including press releases, communication between bilaterally funded projects, etc and effectively engage with media, partners, staff members, and other stakeholders. They should have excellent written and oral communication skills; and be able to set priorities, efficiently manage time and multiple complex tasks, and work independently.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities:

• Strategize and lead the execution of IGNITE's regional communications initiatives, ensuring alignment with M4N’s global goals.
• Collaborate closely with country program leads to grasp local contexts and tailor communications strategies to meet specific regional needs.
• Develop and refine marketing materials, including event concept notes, invitations, fact sheets, and tailored presentations, ensuring clarity and coherence of message.
• Provide expertise in copy editing and graphic design, enhancing program presentations and digital content.
• Design and standardize communication templates to facilitate effective dialogue with stakeholders across various levels.
• Collaborate with the program team to synthesize insights, data, and analysis into compelling reports that highlight advocacy and engagement efforts.
• Chronicle and share success stories from the program, emphasizing outcomes like partner accountability, cross-sector collaboration, and long-term sustainability. This narrative will engage key industry players, from food processors and input suppliers to development partners and public agencies.
• Work closely with the Strategic Communication Manager to manage a comprehensive communications calendar, capturing essential events, milestones, and deadlines.
• Review external communications to guarantee consistency with the program’s core messaging, adherence to communication protocols, and compliance with the M4N’s co-branding requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree + 3 years relevant experience, alternatively Master's Degree + 1 year relevant experience (Corporate Communications, Marketing, Nutrition, or Social Sciences)
• 3 years of experience with knowledge management and communications methods and approaches in an international development context

Preferred Qualifications:

• Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to capture, synthesize, and present programming and organizational successes and lessons learned.
• Demonstrated ability to convey messages through clear and concise writing
• Proficiency with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and Premiere). Graphic design experience is a plus.
• Experience with marketing tools such as Constant Contact, MailChimp, and Salesforce.
• Strong analytical, program management, and analytical skills; Advanced proficiency with relevant software packages, including Microsoft Excel;
