    Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013. The 1979 Act established KEMRI as a National body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya.

    Research Assistant

    Qualifications and experience:

    • Diploma in, Psychology or Medical Psychologist
    • Knowledge in using psychological assessments e.g., (CAPS 5, MINI) will be an added advantage.
    • Must be willing to work with a multidisciplinary team
    • Skills in working as part of a team and with a view of obtaining accurate data
    • Excellent communication skills both in writing and speaking English and Swahili
    • Extremely reliable
    • Flexible and non-judgmental
    • Ability to work under minimal supervision
    • Computer literate and able to use various applications

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Enrolment of patients for studies, including coordination of intake of eligible subjects
    • Conducting informed consent
    • Maintenance of subjects’ records throughout time periods
    • Communication with study team related to patient enrollment and status
    • Maintenance of all study records, including patient approach, recruited and consented
    • Conducting structured interviews
    • Provide periodic progress report on status of data collection and problems challenges encountered.
    • Participant’s follow-up
    • Any other duties assigned.

    Terms of employment:

    Employment is one-year renewable contract. Salary is as per the stated salary scale.
