Resident Obstetrician / Gynaecologist at Avenue Healthcare

Main Purpose of the Job

To provide overall Provide and ensure quality obstetrics and gynecology services.

Key Responsibilities

1. Attend to walk in and referred obstetrics and gynecology patients both out and in patient.
2. Offering obstetrics and gynecology consultancy to all the doctors in Avenue Group.
3. Oversee the obstetrics and gynecology department
4. Run the gynecology and Antenatal clinics.
5. Provision of superior diagnostic, preventative, and interventional medical care.
6. Accurate and clear documentation of patient history, physical examination, investigations, and
7. management.
8. Provide clarity of investigations to be carried out and interpretation of the results and ensure update to the
9. patients and the next of kin.
10. Facilitates patient admissions, necessary consents, and discharges.
11. Counsel clients on treatment and compliance to treatment (patient and family) while ensuring their
12. participation in decision making in their management.
13. Carry out procedures and surgical interventions (obstetric & gynecological) while ensuring high quality of
14. care/services and safety of patients.
15. Conduct family conferences on need basis.
16. Participate in morbidity and mortality meetings as required.
17. Participation in incident reporting, root cause analysis and the Avenue Quality Improvement Plan
18. Participation in resuscitation of patients.
19. Conduct timely ward rounds and patient reviews.
20. Facilitate Continuous Medical Education and mentorship to colleagues to build capacity to provide care.
21. Acquiring new skills on best practices and assist in their implementation.
22. Maintain a positive work attitude and foster teamwork.
23. Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
24. Ensure patient satisfaction through quality of care, communication, feedback, and escalation through the
25. standardized tool for patient satisfaction measurement and demonstrate follow-up and improvement.

Person Specification

1. Holder of a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery
2. Master’s Degree in Gynaecology and Obstetrics
3. A valid KMPDB license
4. Updated BLS, ACLS/ATLS certificate
5. Laparoscopy Training
6. Experience in Gynaecology and Obstetrics and will be an added advantage.
