Risk Information and Coordination Expert - Consultant at United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction

Qualifications/special skills

• Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in disaster risk reduction, administration, management, economics, social sciences, engineering or a related field is required.
• A first-level university degree in combination with at least two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
• A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration or related area is required.
• Experience in the domain of risk knowledge, risk assessment, disaster risk data, quantitative data analysis and use of risk information in decision-making (policy/planning/investment), sustainable development and climate change or related area is required.
• Work experience in disaster risk reduction relevant aspects of sustainable development, early warning systems, development planning, humanitarian planning is desirable.
• Relevant experience working for international organizations such as the United Nations is desirable.

Languages

• English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English and French is required.
