POSITION REPORT TO: Construction Safety Lead

DESCRIPTION OF JOB TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The Safety Technician is responsible for the workplace and/or project site safety inspections, monitoring, identification, control, and elimination of workplace hazards.
• Provides site safety support on large projects or turnarounds in the Safety, Health, and Environmental areas to prevent and mitigate employee injuries and illnesses.
• Ensuring all appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn and used at the job/worksite.
• Implementing safe working procedures and practices, to make sure that safe conditions are maintained in the worksite.
• Monitoring proper use of tools, equipment, including hazardous materials and waste.
• Reporting, coordinating, and assisting in accident/mishap investigation that occurs on the specific job site being monitored.
• Assisting in joint safety audits, report/record identified discrepancies.
• Providing inputs for all safety-related documents and deliverables.
• Performing supplementary tasks and duties essential to contract operations and performance.

BASIC JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be knowledgeable in workplace hazards and construction site safety standards.
• Must have knowledge and understanding of current construction and general industry safety regulations and the ability to analyze and interpret this data for the safety of employees, job sites.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS OR TRAINING

• Must attend (at Contractor’s expense) and pass the OSHA certification course 29 CFR 1910, General Industry Standards and 29 CFR 1926, Construction Industry Standards.
• Must satisfactorily complete the NAVFACENGCOM Construction Safety and Health Certification Course.
• Professional certification as a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) is highly desired.

EDUCATION:

• Must have at least a High School Diploma, Technical or Vocational course graduate is required.
• Associate of bachelor’s degree in safety, Engineering (any field), Industrial Hygiene, Health Physics, Fire Prevention, or other related scientific fields, based on a four-year course of study from an accredited college or university is highly desired but not required. Equivalent work experience in these fields may be substituted for Education.

EXPERIENCE:

• At least one year as Safety Technician, or experience gained by performing specialized work in a closely related professional occupation in construction.

Basic terms of the job offer.

• Assignment Duration: 12 months. Renewal subject to performance.
• Base Monthly Salary: 48 hours per week minimum work requirement: $522.00 (based on 48 hr. work week requirement)
• Working schedule: 48 hours per week (8 hours per day/6 days a week)
• Payroll period: Monthly. Amount give take home.
• Overtime: Work more than 8 hours per day or work performed on a rest day and/or holiday, will be paid as overtime at the base salary rate.
• Accommodations: Housing, transportation, meals in-country, and laundry facilities are provided
• Sick Leave: Employee will accrue 2.67 hours of sick leave for each full month of service, beginning with the completion of the first full month of Foreign Service employment.
• Annual leave Up to 21 days paid at the end of each 12-month contract.
• Travel will be provided by the employer to the employee’s home country.
• Project Holidays: 10 paid holidays. New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday, President’s Day, Philippine Independence Day, USA Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day

• Your Passport must be valid for at least 12 months, with at least 6 total blank visa pages remaining.
• Updated covid and yellow fever vaccination certificate
• Medical exam report at a date to be advised.
