Senior Assistant Director of Dental Services/Dental Specialist I - Periodontologist at Machakos County Public Service Board

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assessing gum health by measuring periodontal pocket depths, evaluating bone loss through X-rays and assessing tooth mobility.
• Creating customized treatment plans for gingivitis and advanced periodontitis.
• Performing deep scaling and root planning to remove plaque and tartar below the gum line.
• Performing pocket reduction surgery, gum grafts to cover exposed roots, frenectomies and regeneration procedures for bone/tissue.
• Specialized, precise placement of dental implants to replace missing teeth and treating peri-implantitis.
• Instructing patients on proper oral hygiene techniques (flossing and brushing) and personalized care to maintain gum health.
• Evaluating systemic health conditions (e.g., diabetes and heart disease) that affect periodontal health.

Requirements for Appointment

• Bachelor of Dental Surgery (DS) degree from an institution recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
• Master’s degree of Dental Surgery in Periodontology.
• Certificate of Registration by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
• Valid practicing license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
• Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution.
• Certificate in Computer application skills from a recognized institution.
• Demonstrated professional competence and managerial capability as reflected in work performance and results.
