Senior Deputy Director, Health Management Services (Primary Health Care) Health And Wellness at Public Service Commission Kenya (PSCK)

Duties and responsibilities

The Senior Deputy Director, Health Management Services, Primary Health Care will head the Division.  Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:-

• Developing, monitoring, and reviewing policies and guidelines on health and wellness;
• Provision of technical support to counties on health and wellness;
• Providing capacity building in counties for health and wellness; 
• Identifying research priorities on health and wellness;
• Formulation, developing and reviewing of policies, strategies and guidelines for health and Wellness;
• Strengthening leadership and governance for health at all levels;
• Identifying and promoting strategies for promotion of health, prevention substance use disorders;
• Strengthening and promoting health systems including information systems;
• Provision of technical assistance and capacity building in prevention and control of health to state and non-state actors;
• Integrating health and Wellness services within the Kenya Essential Package for Heath and national policies; and
• Establishment, reviewing, and overseeing implementation of systems to mitigate health challenges, emerging trends, and burden of mental disorders

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -

• Served for a minimum period of ten (10) years, three (3) of which should be in the grade of Assistant Director- Nursing Services, Environmental Health, Public Health, Health Records or Community Health, CSG 7 and above or in a comparable and relevant position in the wider public service or private sector;
• A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Medicine; Nursing; Environmental Health; Public Health, Community Health; or any other relevant health related field from a university recognized in Kenya;
• A Masters of Science in any of the following fields:  Medicine; Nursing; Environmental Health, Public Health; Community Health; or any other relevant Health related field from a university recognized in  Kenya;
• A Registration certificate by relevant professional body where applicable; 
• A Valid practicing license form relevant professional body where applicable;
• Demonstrated managerial and administrative capability and professional   competence in work performance and results; and
• Exhibited a thorough understanding of national development policies, goals and objectives and ability to integrate them into the Primary Health Care Function.
