Job purpose

To give assurance to management that internal controls are functioning as intended

Duties and responsibilities

• Receive checking and analysing internal controls, operational policies and procedures.
• Identify possible risks and making recommendations.
• Carry out audit related investigations when called upon.
• Oversee stock-takes and write-offs as well as conducting surprise checks.
• Monitor implementation status of past audit recommendations.
• Provide inputs for the update of policies and procedures for the Department.
• Participate in developing individual audit engagement plan and ensure implementation.
• Participate in reviewing and evaluating the system of internal controls, assess their adequacy, effectiveness and proposing recommendations for their improvement.
• Verifying existence and ownership of company assets and valuation.
• Preparing draft audit reports on completion of each audit engagement for review by
• the Principal Internal Auditor.
• Assisting in establishing a follow up mechanism on recommendations received from all internal and external audits.
• Undertaking special audit/investigations.

Qualifications and personal specifications

• Have Bachelor’s Degree in computer Science/ Information Technology or in any of the following disciplines: Accounting, Finance or relevant field from a recognized university.
• CISA/CISCO and Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (K) or its equivalent.
• Minimum period of four (4) years relevant work experience in an Information Systems Audit.
• Be registered member of ICPAK and ISACA in good standing.
• Be proficient in computer application skills; working knowledge of SAP will be an added advantage
