    Senior Librarian (One position)

    Ref: HR/7/SL/2023/15

    Key Responsibilities
    Duties and responsibilities will entail: -

    • Supervising the cataloguing and classification processes;
    • Managing circulation services to library users through the library management system;
    • Undertaking current awareness to library users new information services;
    • Ensuring that user enquiries are adequately addressed;
    • Ensuring proper Shelving and physical arrangement of library resources;
    • Managing the sale and distribution of KIPPRA’s research publications;
    • Developing and implementing collection development policy;
    • Supervising arrangement of publications in the store;
    • Overseeing the Institutes’ public exhibitions of research outputs;
    • Developing capacity for researchers to search and retrieve online information resources;
    • Managing user satisfaction survey as a means of evaluating library services;
    • Formulating library policies and procedures for the Institute;
    • Supervising annual stocktaking exercise and regular weeding of information resources and Preparing relevant reports;
    • Developing a policy for the resource center; and
    • Developing and implement a framework for classification of policy resources

    Qualifications 
    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

    • Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Library Science, Information Science, Communication or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Masters Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Library Science, Information Science, Communication or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Professional Qualifications and affiliation to a professional body;
    • Three (3) years relevant work experience;
    • Supervisory skills course lasting not less than two (2) weeks from a recognized institution;
    • Skills in searching and retrieval of information and library resources;
    • Experience in using computerized Library application;
    • Computer Skills in searching and retrieval of information and resources; and
    • Fulfil the requirement of chapter six (6) of the constitution.

    • Clearance from Kenya Revenue Authority (Tax Compliance Certificate).
