Applied skills/knowledge and expertise

• Qualifications in communications, marketing, journalism, or international development (or equivalent experience)
• Excellent planning, organisational and influencing skills
• An ability to critique, and challenge storytelling best practice, keeping abreast of latest developments
• Experience leading content gathering trips
• Experience supporting content requirements for a range of stakeholders
• Background in one or more areas of multimedia content gathering (interviewing, audio, photography, video)
• Able to provide technical support to others on effective storytelling, including visual storytelling techniques
• Willingness for self-development around storytelling and multimedia
• Previous experience in commissioning freelancers

Desirable

• Previous experience of working in global development, preferably overseas, and an excellent understanding of the development sector, its issues, and challenges
• Experience working in sensitive and unpredictable environments
• Previous experience supporting content needs for key fundraising appeals and/or humanitarian appeals
• Demonstrates a commitment to ethical and anti-racist storytelling
• Semi-professional level photography obtained through training/on the job experience
• Experience using Digital Asset Management Systems for storing multimedia content
• Direct content gathering experience
• Video producing/editing skills
• Knowledge of photoshop / editing suites
