    Short Term: Climate Change and Climate Justice Experts

    The Assignment

    Under the supervision of the IDLO Kenya Country Manager, the Experts will facilitate the following areas;

    Expert One

    1. The Global Understanding of Climate Change and its Manifestations
    2. Contribution of climate change to vulnerabilities and inequalities; and
    3. Mitigation and adaptation measures to influence policy and law reform

    Expert Two

    1. A Rule of Law Approaches to Natural Resources Management and Climate Change in Kenya
    2. Natural Resources Management in the Devolved System of Government: The role of County Governments.

    Deliverables

    The Experts shall deliver the following outputs based on timelines to be agreed on with IDLO in the initial briefing meeting:

    1. An Inception Report detailing the understanding of the terms of reference and a proposed methodology, a work plan indicating clear milestones and timelines., to be delivered within three days of contract start.
    2. Submit a detailed workshop report on the agreed topics
    3. presentations for each training session three days after the training. 

    Job Requirements

    The selected Expert will possess the following qualifications and experience.

    1. Hold a Bachelor of Law, Environmental Studies/Science and post-graduate qualifications in law is an added advantage.
    2. Demonstrate in-depth experience in legal and policy frameworks in Environment and Climate Change fields.
    3. At least seven years experience in conducting teaching, training, and other capacity-building initiatives within the field of Environment, Climate Change and law.
    4. Broad knowledge and understanding of the rule of law and general law-making processes in Kenya at policy, planning, and implementation levels.
    5. Demonstrate ability to train senior government officials in the environment, natural resource management and climate change.
    6. Demonstrate a strong work ethic characterised by the desire to achieve results. Strong problem-solving skills, with a high degree of personal and professional organisation.
    7. Ability to multi-task in a high-pressure environment, respond rapidly to ad hoc requests, meet tight deadlines, and ensure diplomacy and tact when engaging with prominent public figures.
    8. Ability to work independently and flexibly to deliver the agreed outputs and respond to feedback promptly and professionally.
    9. Computer savvy, able to navigate necessary programs with proficiency.
    10. Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including strong writing and presentation skills in English.
