It is among the Eight Water Works Agencies serving various areas of jurisdiction in our Country. Tanathi Water Works Development Agency covers Kitui,Makueni,Kajiado and Machakos.It was created to provide bulk water and sewerage Infrastructure in the said Areas. In terms of section 68 of the Water act 2016,the powers and functions of Tanathi Water Works Development Agency are,

Job Specifications
The Duties and Responsibilities will entail: -
- Participating in Identification of relevant stakeholders;
- Mobilizing communities for dissemination of information;
- Assist in carrying out socio- economic survey and impact assessment;
- Gathering information on the interests of stakeholders for inclusion in the formulation of policy by public institutions and organizations;
- Updating the database of stakeholder in decision making bodies;
- Creating awareness among stakeholders on available opportunities and other empowerment initiatives;
- Creating awareness of the Agency’s initiatives for stakeholders /community members empowerment;
- Assist in Preparing proposals on community projects that require funding;
- Assist in identifying capacity building needs for community-based providers, NGOs, CBOs; and
- Participate in Identification of the challenges affecting the formation and operationalization of Community Water and Sanitation Service Providers.
Person Specifications
For appointment to this position a candidate must have: -
- Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Sociology, Anthropology, social work, community development or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Proficiency in computer applications; and
- Meets the provisions of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.

- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations;
- Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB);
- Valid tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA);
- Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC); and
- Report from an Approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
