Tax Accountant at Stratostaff

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation and filing of tax returns on time and accurately, the returns are VAT, Withholding tax, Reverse VAT, and other statutory returns as per the Kenya Revenue Authority.
• Identify weaknesses in current processes and to identify solutions to ensure that tax processes are in place and to deliver the correct output.
• To ensure accurate tax computations by verifying the rates applied, payment requests and Memos.
• Value added tax refund audit certification and follow up for cash refunds or set of against other tax liabilities.
• Ensuring timely remittance of taxes relating to products import / purchase and reconciliation of tax payment to avoid over/under payment.
• Ensure the taxes paid in advance are fully accounted for and reconciled.
• Developing solutions to issues arising under audits by the revenue authority and statutory bodies, including tax trainings.
• In house tax training to enhance compliance and provide insights on tax planning in a timely manner.
• Reviewing and advising on applicability of exemptions, remissions, and offsets.
• Advise on tax implications of the various transactions.
• Liaising with the Revenue Authorities on taxation matters.
• Liaising with the External Auditors on tax assignments.
• Preparation and reconciliation of Tax schedules and forwarding to the relevant departments.

Requirements

•  Bachelor degree in Business/Finance
• Professional accounting qualifications e.g CPA, ACCA
• Good analytical and communication skills
• Thorough knowledge of Tax Regulations and Laws in Kenya (VAT, Income Tax, Customs
• Knowledge in use of SAP
