Teacher of Mathematics at Aga Khan Academy

Job Summary:

 The Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa is currently recruiting an IB Teacher with experience of teaching Mathematics at a higher level. The Teacher will join an experienced team of IB educators in the mathematics department. The Mathematics Teacher will be responsible for effective delivery of lessons and raising the standards of student achievement in Mathematics, for monitoring and supporting student progress as well as supervising Internal Assessment, Personal Project, and Extended Essay.

Roles & responsibilities:

• Demonstrate a passion for Mathematics that serves to motivate and encourage students to attain their personal best.
• Design engaging learning and assessment activities that develop deep understanding.
• Support students to be confident thinkers in a safe learning environment.
• Monitor and track student progress.
• Act as a Personal Project and Extended Essay supervisor.
• Act as a form tutor/mentor to guide and support a small group of students
• Contribute to the development of enrichment / co-curricular and experiential activities.

The requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or an internationally recognized teaching qualification or a BEd /Med.
• Experience teaching in IB Mathematics (3 years minimum).
• Experience of working in a culturally diverse environment.
• Experience of working with highly able students
• She/he should demonstrate ability to inspire and motivate students to gain a deeper appreciation for Mathematics.
