    Team Leader – Upholstery Shop

    Brief Description        

    The candidate will be designing and fabricating aircraft seat linen, curtain, carpets per laid down standards projecting good image of Kenya airways whilst maintaining KCAA requirements.

    Detailed Description        
    Principal Accountabilities (Responsibilities)

    • Designing and fabricating aircrafts (all types) seat according to the seat structure
    • Drafting patterns, materials cutting and productivity samples.
    • Carpeting aircraft this includes drafting, cutting pieces and edge locking and fitting in the aircraft.
    • Maintaining of aircraft seats frames by designing Velcro’s and fitting and replacing worn out
    • Manufacturing spare seat covers and supplying them to store for storage for all Kenya- airways aircrafts.
    • Manufacturing aircraft curtains by designing, drafting, cutting according to aircraft type, stitching, press buttoning and fitting it to the aircraft.
    • Manufacturing soundproof covers and repairing worn out ones.
    • Manufacturing stretcher case covers and fitting fire block lining.
    • Manufacturing Demo kits bags, baby bassinet and magazine pockets.
    • Safety belt colour coding.
    • Ensuring each fleet has clean spares seat covers on board all the time.
    • Replacing soiled or damaged linen in the aircraft.
    • Collecting clean seat covers and curtain from Laundry, sorting, scrapping, tagging them with part numbers, arranging as per aircraft type and packing them for storage in store.
    • General care of and maintenance of upholstery sewing machine.
    • Certifying seat covers for storage.

    Job Requirements        
    Qualification (Minimum)  

    • Diploma in tailoring and Dress making or its equivalent.
    • Holds Government Trade Test 2 in tailoring and Dress making.
    • Good Communication Skills
    • Vendor Training
    • Company Procedures and Documentation
    • Knowledge in pattern drafting and designing.
    • Know how to interpret a design.
    • Workshop Approvals
    • 5 years working in a busy Upholstery shop.

    • Strong team Player.
    • Proactive.
    • Computer Literacy.
    • Ability to work under time pressure to maintain flight schedules.
    • Has demonstrated an understanding of Health & Safety /risk assessments and their practical application.
