We are seeking for an experienced Technical Writer to produce high-quality technical documentation that contributes to the overall success of our products. The ideal candidate to have proven success in a highly technical field, such as software development, computer science, or engineering. The candidate will work collaboratively with developers, quality engineers, product managers, and usability experts to make our products easier to use.
Job Description
Develop comprehensive product documentation that meets organizational standards
Gain deep understanding of products and services, and translate complex information into simple, polished, engaging content
Write user-friendly content that meets the needs of target audience, turning insights into language for user success
Develop and maintain detailed database of reference materials, including research, usability tests, and design specifications
Evaluate current user content and develop innovative methods for improvement
Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with consistent tone across all documentation
Assesses the audience needs for whom the technical and procedural documentation is intended; adjusts tone and technical terms used to meet those needs and to ensure understanding
Gathers feedback from customers, designers, and developers to improve technical documents.
Performs other related duties as may be assigned.
Competencies
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in engineering, communications, software engineering, computer science or relevant technical field
2 or more years of experience as a Technical Writer
Firm understanding of SDLC (systems development lifecycle)
Experience in using XML tools to create documentation
Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail
Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures
Strong working knowledge of Office Suite
Familiarity with content and learning management systems (CMS and LMS).
Familiarity with documentation publishing software, such as MadCap, RoboHelp, or Wikis will be an added advantage
Ability to effectively use of analytics to improve user-facing content and applicant programming interface (API) a plus.
