    Venture CEO, SOLV Kenya - SC Ventures

    The Role

    • As CEO, you are responsible for providing leadership to the Company's strategic management. You will define the Company's overall strategy and provide leadership with the objective of ensuring further investment onto the Company's growth and scale. Your role will include being accountable to the Board of Directors of the Company and being responsible for the overall management of the Company's operations. Finally, you have responsibility for the overall success of the Venture.
    • You will also work closely with the SCV Leadership Team, Venture Board, SCV Function Teams and wider bank COEs to execute and consult as required.

    Responsibilities

    Strategy

    • Develop board approved consolidated strategy for the company ensuring alignment with the management team and the company's board
    • Being an ambassador for the Venture and SCB with key stakeholders at relevant forums continuously exploring & building strategic partnerships to drive growth and promote financial inclusion for the Company
    • Develop and implement an effective business organisational plan that supports operational resilience and the delivery of strategic priorities focused on innovation, customer orientation, agility, people & culture
    • Foster a culture of innovation, compliance and good conduct to establish the company as a model of strong governance amongst peers
    • Take the lead in aligning with the regulatory agenda, starting with regulatory compliance and developing into a healthy relationship with regulators toward a common progressive agenda.

    Business

    • Establish an effective and scalable operational structure, resourced for a growing company's requirements, and governed strongly to ensure business continuity, seamless change, and customer resilience.
    • Manage competition and threats in the marketplace, with constant evaluation of the financial structure, capital strategy and strategic objectives
    • Deliver business, customer acquisition and revenue growth targets by investing in efficient business development resources and tools, marketing, publicity and fit for purpose product and technology.
    • Lead the company in continuous enhancement and improvement of the Company's product offering as per agreed plan, overseeing & ensuring technology and product management resource capabilities are met to support the plan.
    • Lead geographical expansion based on thorough date & research, due diligence, and validation of business assumptions.
    • Execute the marketing strategy to enable business and customer acquisition, establishment and enhancement of the company's brand value, and continued growth in active customers

    Processes

    • Establish and/or chair management committees as required by the company's operating model.
    • Implement business and governance review cadences as appropriate.
    • Closely work with relevant person(s) and team(s) to maintain oversight on financial performance, liquidity requirements, budgets, funding, and investments.
    • Review reporting obligations to both the regulator(s) and the shareholder(s); and assure accuracy and timeliness.

    Risk Management

    • Develop and maintain organisational awareness of operational risk management
    • Ensure that the relevant staff understand and accept their responsibilities in relation to risks, governance and controls.
    • Oversee identification, assessment, management, monitoring, mitigation and reporting of compliance (including regulatory, conduct and financial crime) risks.
    • Oversee the formulation of compliance policies and standards for approval by the relevant governing body (as necessary) under the Company's governance framework.
    • Oversee the development of controls for the Company for all risk types as set out in the relevant Risk Management Frameworks.
    • Ensure independence, timely responses and escalation of risks and issues where it is felt that risk tolerance of the company is exceeded.
    • Lead the regulatory relationships with each of the regulators, whose rules the Company is subject to.
    • Collaborate with other governance, risk, and compliance teams within the Group and SCV to anticipate horizon risks that may have a significant impact on the Company and support the development of effective strategies to mitigate such horizon risks, including global standards for conduct of business.

    Governance

    • Promote the culture and practice of organisational compliance (including regulatory and financial crime) policies and standards.
    • Ensure swift remediation of any regulatory breaches.
    • Escalate serious regulatory breaches, or where risk tolerances have been breached, for notifying regulators as appropriate.
    • Disseminate regulatory changes/practices and associated risks, and proactive engagement in regulatory reform.
    • Insofar as they relate to regulatory and financial crime compliance, ensure details of developments are provided giving rise to a material risk that serious regulatory breaches or breaches of risk tolerances (as agreed by the Board from time to time) may occur

    Regulatory & Business Conduct

    • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct.
    • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
    • Lead the company to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank's Conduct Principles: Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment.
    • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
    • Serve as a Director of the Board
    • Exercise authorities delegated by the Board of Directors and act in accordance with Articles of Association (or equivalent)

    Qualifications

    Training, licenses, memberships and certifications

    • Extensive experience in start-ups, Fintech or relevant industries playing leadership or management roles
    • Demonstrates experience leading best in class business practices and make sound decisions in the context of the Venture's business amidst diverse situations
    • Strong general risk management with good understanding of relevant market and industry regulatory framework
