    Workshop Manager

     Responsibilities

    • To develop technical expertise in all areas of fleet maintenance and repair through continuous improvement.  Provide technical advice to mechanics, Fleet officers, and the Logistics Manager.
    • To ensure that daily workshop functions operate in an effective, flexible, and customer-focused manner and comply fully with SLA and contract requirements.
    • Liaise with mechanics and drivers and ensure the provision of feedback service and update key performance indicators.
    • Develop workshop maintenance budget and ensure same is adhered to.
    • Take advantage of the workshop activities that can help in generating revenue for the company.
    • To be in charge of the entire fleet, ensure it’s roadworthy and meets all operational legal requirements.
    • To ensure that staff training reviews and programs are carried out in line with service needs and staff development requirements.
    • To generate reports and statics as and when requested by the Logistics Manager.
    • To provide support to the Logistics Manager.
    • Liaising with external suppliers to maintain costs, performance, and quality of services provided.
    • To control systems and documentation to meet quality and environmental standards.
    • To attend training, shows, meetings, and seminars as required.
    • Be available and attend emergency calls relating to truck breakdowns and accidents.

    Skills & Qualifications

    • Degree or Diploma in automotive engineering from a recognised institution.
    • Effective time management skills, and ability to meet strict deadlines
    • Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Ability to plan, organize and direct the work of skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled employees engaged in repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
    • General computer skills
    • 5 years’ work experience repairing and maintaining heavy commercial vehicles.
