Young Statisticians, Gender Statistics at Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS)

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Senior Officer, Gender Statistics, theYoung Statistician will undertake identified programmes and activities of Gender Statistics Unitin Population and Social Statistics Directorate.

Duties and responsibilitiesi.

• Assisting in the development and review of data collection tools;
• Collecting, collating, compiling, analyzing, validating and reviewing sex disaggregated data;
• Following up data requests from data producers and responding to data users requests;
• Assisting in the preparation of technical reports such as the Economic Survey, Statistical Abstract and other technical publications;
• Assisting in the preparation of the dissemination plan for gender statistics;
• Assisting in designing gender statistics modules for various sample surveys;
• Developing reports for given assignments;
• Working closely with the Mentor, Supervisor and colleagues to implement programmes and activities of the Directorate;
• Assisting  in  preparing  for  planned  events and  activities by  developing  and assembling information and necessary materials;
• .Acquiring relevant skills in areaof specialization;xi.Participating   in   Directorate,   Divisional   and   Sectional   meetings   and trainings;xii.Undertaking duties at the Headquarters and in the Field, as required;
• Maintaining the required records of Internship, completing and submitting the records and a report at the end of the programme;
• Any other duties lawfully assigned by the supervisor

Requirements for Appointment

• Must be a Kenyan citizen;
• Must have  attained  a  minimum  2nd  Class  Honors  degree  from a recognizedinstitution  within  the  last  two  years  in Applied  Statistics, Economics,Mathematics,Gender    and    Developmentor    related qualifications;
• Proficiency  in  data  analysis  using  statistical  packages  e.g.  SPSS  ,  Stata, MS-Excel,Fox Pro, CS Pro or related qualifications;
